Home Automation
I’ve had a busy year with most of my time spent setting up a new family business, a self-catering holiday let in Sheringham.
This has involved several challenges, namely:
- The website (www.theprairie.co.uk)
- Home automation
- Home entertainment
We don’t live particularly local to The Prairie so the home automation side of things appeals to me. The first project is complete, installation of a Hive heating controller. A full review of how that went can be found here.
On the home entertainment front we needed a cost effective way to deliver box office movies to guests. As we’d installed ADSL for the Hive heating controller and guests use we decided to go for the Now TV box for a neat PAYG solution that could also be used in our main home on our LG Smart TV. A review of that can be found here.
I’m particularly happy with the cottage website which is based upon the free Pinboard theme with a few custom tweaks, namely the map section and the simple booking form calendar.
Now that’s done, I’m looking at updating the theme on this website and resurrecting the “Fixing a poorly ZX-Spectrum” series of article.
